      There are so many cool words in Science…

      “pleiotropic” we use it to describe the effects of a gene when that gene affects lots of different and sometimes apparently unrelated things. This is normally because the gene has many functions which often change throughout development or even during adult life.

      I also quite like the word “isoschizomer” which is used to describe different enzymes that recognise the same DNA sequence as a target to cut.
