• Question: if a human brain was simulated in a computer and given 24/7 access to the internet without needing to eat or sleep , could it become an evil super-computer?

      I think the IF is a big stumbling block, but assuming it had no greater power than a human brain and worked essentially in the same way in terms of data integration and storage it probably wouldn’t do any better or worse than we would.

      Free of any conscience, morality or ethics and if it had evil-intent then I’m sure it would probably be able to do some serious damage 😯

      I think it would do what a normal sleep deprived human brain with internet access would do and watch cat videos on youtube.

      I wouldn’t rule that out as a SkyNet origin though…

      This really depends on who’s brain you are simulating.

      If you took Nelson Mandela’s brain it probably would instead start exposing corruption all around the world.

      If you took a regular human’s brain with survival instincts you probably would see that computer getting afraid of being turned off and start defending itself. Wether it get’s evil is a matter of perspective, from it’s own perspective it’s acting in self defence.
